#MovieReview #HindiMedium
(2017)
Today we are herewith the review of #HindiMedium (2017), one of the
movie released last week. The movie is directed by Pyar Ke Side Affects fame
director Saket Choudhary and has Irfan Khan, Pakistani Actress Saba Qamar &
Deepak Dobriyal in lead roles. The movie made a statement on Education system
prevailing in our society moreover, it also projects the dominance of English
and situation our national language HINDI. In whole, movie made a point,
exposing the inadequacies and loopholes in our education system.
PLOT:
Raj Batra (Irrfan Khan), a desi delhiite runs a famous clothes store in
Chandni Chowk where he sells original copies of famous designers of the
country, and his wife Mithu (Saba Qamar), working out to angrizify their
lifestyle so that their daughter Pia (Dishita Sehgal) got enrolled in one of
the premier schools of Delhi. They have money in their kitty, but there is a
big problem which is their Hindi language and the snobby elites doesn’t let the
Hindi speaking ones to fit in there.
When they are not able to get their child admitted in the English Medium
Schools inspite of moving to posh Vasant Vihar and their special coaching from
the expert, they even applied in the poor quota seats fraudulently, and move
into the poor settlements with rags. Here they met Shyam Parkash (Deepak
Dobriyal), who helps them in many ways and ironically teaches them many lessons
for life.
ANALYSIS:
Hindi Medium hit the right spot by picking up the issue of situation or
environment created by the English Medium or Private or I can say Corporate Schools
in the minds of young couples that they are the only saviours of the futures of
their kids. In this backdrop the situation of the Govt. or Public Sector
Schools is getting deteriorated due to one reason or another.
The film questions the society which considers English as a parameter
for judging people and people speaking our national language i.e. Hindi are not
taken seriously and made to feel inferior.
I can say that the film delivers the serious message in garb of humour
and comedy. The dilagues are funny and entertaining but the plot is somewhat
predictable especially towards the end. Some scenes in the film are bit
dramatic too, but overall its entertaining and draws so much reality that many
can relate to them. Music is also good.
WHAT’S GOOD:
The movie with a social quotient is
a treat to watch.
NOT GOOD:
Some overdramatic scenes which is obvious from Bollywood.
STAR PERFORMANCES:
Irrfan
Khan impresses once again his super performance. Pakistani actress Saba Qamar
is also impressive as a dominating wife and a mother who is desperate to ensure
good education for her daughter so that she does not lag behind in the rat
race. Amrita Singh plays a strict but corrupt headmistress quite perfectly. Deepak
Dobriyal is also spot on with his performance as a poor but helping others like
a person.
FINAL WORDS:
This is a film with which every Indian student and parent
will be able to relate to and also makes a statement on situation of our
national language HINDI.
My ratings for this movie is 3.5
out of 5 stars.
