MOVIEREVIEW – #TOILET - EK PREM KATHA – (2017)

#MOVIEREVIEW – #TOILET - EK PREM KATHA – (2017)

Today I am here again with the review of one of the movie released this Friday i.e. TOILET – EK PREM KATHA (2017). Directed by Shree Narayan Singh and starring Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Padnekar, Anupam Kher, Devyendu Sharma & Sudhir Pandey in lead roles.

PLOT:
As its name & promos suggest, the present movie is based on the concept of Govt. sponsored sanitation drive, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, for the eradication of open defecation, prevalent in rural India due to conservative mindsets of villagers in the name of culture. The protagonist of the movie, Keshav (Akshay Kumar), is a 12th fail 36 years old bachelor, who is trapped in the traditional rituals by his conservative father, Pandit Ji (Sudhir Pandey). Jaya (Bhumi Padnekar), is topper in UP board, who is full of life and open minded girl, but eventually falls for Keshav and they somehow manage to marry each other. Real problem started when she was aware that there is no toilet facility in Keshav’s house and she has to go out in open for defectation with so called ‘LOTA PARTY’ at early in the morning, which was not never acceptable to her.

ANALYSIS:
The movie has a unique concept and a social message for a problem prevalent in our rural areas. The first half of the movie is full of fun, hilarious moments in addition to love story whereas second is drama and looked like in a hurry in the end. There are certain loopholes in the screenplay and story jumps from one topic to another.

The music of the movie is not the best and most of the songs in the movie seem forcefully inserted and doesn’t make an impact. Overall the movie is just an advertisement campaign for PM Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and all praise for the Union Govt. running under the PM Modi and Toilet Scams by the previous governments.

What’s Good:
A social message with humour with good performances by Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Padnekar & Devendyu Sharma.

Loop holes in the movie:
Slow pace of the movie in the second half & unnecessary songs.

Star Peformance:-
Akshay Kumar has played the role of Keshav honestly with proper UP accent. But he is looked older than 36 in the movie. Bhumi has also played the role of a UP girl with perfection in all departments be it accent, dialogue delivery, or expressions.

Devyendu Sharma is full of energy throughout the film and his fun making chemistry with Akshay Kumar is spot on. Anupam Kher, as always is good and Sudhir Pandey has played the role of conservative Pandit ji with full dedication.

Final words:
Social message with a blend of comedy with equally powerful performances by lead roles. A good weekend watch inspite of weak second half.

My ratings for this movie is 2.5 out of 5 stars.

So keep following the page, good day till the next review
